Work is underway to repave a portion of I-295 in the area.

Crews have been milling and are set to repave parts of I-295 eastbound and westbound between the Bristol and the Penndel/Levittown interchanges in Bristol Township and Middletown Township.

Preparation work has been underway and the project kicked off Tuesday.

The paving work takes place after the bridge deck passing on the Pennsylvania Turnpike was resurfaced recently.

PennDOT said there will be single lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-295 between 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning through Friday.

Drivers have been advised to give extra time when traveling through work zones because backups and delays will occur.

The work is weather dependent.

The repaving project is part of a regional project that will improve roads and bridges in Bucks, Philadelphia and Delaware counties. The federal government is fully funding the regional $44.6 million slate of work being carried out by Philadelphia-based Driscoll Construction Company Inc.
